Yes, it’s very easy and safe to place your baby in either of the Moova carrier models without assistance. Moova carriers are among the easiest to use on the market, thanks to the pre-set crossed shoulder straps and the adjustable panel that can be unzipped when putting your baby in the carrier.
This makes daily life much easier — you’ll be taking your baby in and out of the carrier many times a day, whether they’re going to nap, want to sit on their own, or need to go into a bike trailer or car seat.
In the new Moova Balance model, we’ve made it even easier for you with our magnetic waistbelt buckle, which simply clicks into place.
When babies protest against being in a baby carrier or sling, it’s usually because they feel too confined and don’t have enough freedom to move. Small bodies need to move, sense themselves, and explore with their arms and hands. Many carriers unfortunately don’t allow for this — but Moova does.
Our adjustable back panel allows you to tailor the level of support to your baby’s stage of development: freedom of movement where possible, support where needed. This balance is precisely why we have yet to hear of a baby who didn’t feel comfortable in a properly adjusted Moova.
If you have a baby who has previously been uneasy in a carrier or sling, we recommend trying Moova in a store. Sometimes, it’s simply a matter of finding the right match — and getting a little help with the adjustments.
Yes, Moova was developed specifically with your baby’s motor and orthopedic development in mind.
In the first months of life, you have two options: If your newborn has difficulty spreading their legs wide enough, you can keep your baby’s feet inside the panel so that they sit in the recommended “froggy” position — a natural, slightly curled posture with bent hips and limited abduction, as recommended by leading pediatric orthopedic specialists. This position closely resembles your baby’s posture in the womb and can feel like a natural transition into life outside.
Other newborns are perfectly comfortable spreading their legs so that their lower legs and feet are placed outside the panel. The panel width can be adjusted to support under the thighs — from knee to knee — and the baby sits with legs outside the carrier. This creates the optimal M-position, where the knees are slightly higher than the bottom — a position that’s important for healthy hip development.
Moova is also designed to support the baby’s spine without locking it in — and the arms remain free to move and explore.
That combination of support and freedom is at the heart of modern ergonomic baby carrying.
In short: Moova supports your baby where needed — and offers freedom where beneficial.
Yes, absolutely — as long as the back panel is adjusted to support your baby’s head while still allowing safe, unobstructed breathing. The panel should never extend higher than the middle of your baby’s ears.
As long as your baby feels comfortable — and can stay warm if you’re outdoors in the cold. But always pay close attention to your baby’s signals and avoid keeping them in the same position for too long at a time.
We use a special zipper from the world’s leading quality manufacturer, YKK. It’s called an auto-lock zipper and features a smart safety mechanism: the slider automatically locks in place unless you actively pull the tab.
This means the zipper won’t accidentally open, even if your baby moves around.
The mechanism is designed to withstand a weight load far beyond what your baby can exert, as most of your baby’s weight is directed downward and therefore supported by the fabric panel. Moova carriers have been externally tested and certified to endure a high number of dynamic impacts from a 20 kg test dummy — and passed with no issues.
Yes, you absolutely can! We know that babies explore the world with their mouths — which is why we've chosen our materials with the utmost care.
Every part of the Moova carrier that your baby might suck or chew on is certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class 1. This means the materials have been tested for harmful substances and approved for direct contact with both baby skin and mouth.
So you can confidently let your baby suck, chew, and explore the carrier — without worry.
Moova baby carriers are designed to grow with your child and stay with you for years to come.
Moova Original can be used from birth (3.5 kg) up to 20 kg — which typically covers ages up to 3–4 years.
Moova Balance is suitable from 3.5 kg up to 15 kg — usually around the age of 3.
No matter which model you choose, you’ll get a carrier that supports your baby’s development while offering both of you comfort and freedom of movement — from the earliest months well into toddlerhood.
You can carry your baby on your front, on your hip, and on your back.
We have deliberately chosen not to offer the forward-facing position — for several reasons.
We believe that the forward-facing position is the wrong solution to a real problem.
The actual problem in many current carrier designs, is that the baby sits too enclosed and doesn’t have sufficient visual access to the world in the inward-facing position. This runs counter to many babies’ instincts and natural drive to explore their surroundings.
Our solution is to give your baby freedom of movement and an open field of vision — while remaining in the optimal inward-facing position. So far, we’ve not encountered a single baby who didn’t feel comfortable in this position in a Moova carrier.
At the same time, this supports your baby’s motor development far more effectively than the conceptually misguided forward-facing position.
Most babies begin to reach out actively around three months of age and become more interested in their surroundings. At that age, most babies can also hold their head upright.
That makes it a good time to shift your baby over to your hip, especially while you're doing things around the house or out and about.
It’s easy to switch between the front and hip position — and your baby will love being able to follow what you’re doing.
We recommend back carrying no earlier than around 11–12 months.
You should never use the back position before your baby can sit up unaided and has full head control, which usually happens by 8 months at the latest.
Back carrying is typically used when your baby begins to feel too heavy in front — but this is a very individual decision.
Our user feedback shows that Moova’s crossed, well-padded shoulder straps provide such good support that many parents continue to carry in the front position until their child is about two years old.
